In today’s world terrorism is the biggest problem faced by all countries around the globe. Since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre, a new wave of terrorism gripped various nations. It is during this time that the whole world has united its forces to fight the biggest evil of all. The roots of terrorism are widespread due to a variety of factors including religion, ethnicity, culture, state interests, etc. However, religion seems to be the dominating factor behind the most damaging terrorist attacks. There are various conspiracy theories, according to which these terrorists are either backed by some external power or sponsored by their own State. The question remains, what should we do with these terrorists? Should we lock them up in Jail? Should we send them to FBI for investigation? There are many options available but the general public believes that these terrorists should be hanged to death instantly. Brutal terrorists who kill innocent people should not be sent to Jail or for further investigation. They do not have the right to live and they deserve to die as soon as they are caught. There should not be any second thoughts before deciding their fate.

Proponents of the view which holds that terrorists should be hanged instantly, argue that terrorism has been increasing because of lack of proper action taken by the authorities against terrorism. They believe that terrorists have become fearless because they know that rather than being hanged to death they will have to face investigative procedures if caught. During this time they might even have the chance to prove themselves innocent in the courts. These proponents explain that once terrorists are treated with severe punishment and immediately hanged to death then others might learn a lesson and not pursue this evil path. Opponents of the view have continuously and successfully won the argument in this regard. The major argument they place is that by hanging one terrorist to death would not solve the problem at all. They say that terrorists are already fearless of death and by hanging them to death, would not do any harm to their cause. These opponents explain that terrorism needs to be swept from its roots. In order to find these roots, when terrorists are caught they need to be put under investigation to find out about their whereabouts so that the larger groups of terrorists could be caught and punished.

There are human rights activists who have persistently retaliated against governments to take some serious action against these terrorist organizations but governments all across the globe seem to have no answer to the ever increasing problem of terrorism. No one has any clue from where these organizations are getting funds. Even if authorities know about the whereabouts of the terrorist camps, they are not able to reach them for some mysterious reasons.

It is time that the whole world adopts a zero tolerance policy against terrorists. Once caught, they should be awarded punishment immediately without waiting years for the court to announce its verdict because there is a strong chance that if they stay in Jail, they might find a way to get out as there is no doubt that these terrorists have strong links with the higher authorities. At the same time, there is also a need to find the root cause of terrorism. Why is a person willing to risk his life to kill innocent people? What is the motivating factor behind it? No religion, culture or country supports the killing of innocent people and if this basic education is provided to them, a day might come when we live in a world of peace and harmony!
