The male reproductive part of Cycas is represented by a cone which bears a number of microsporophylls arranged compactly and spirally on its axis in an acropetalous succession. Each microsporophyll (equivalent to stamen) is a woody, flattened, wedge-shaped structure. It is differentiated into basal narrow sterile part called apophysis. On the abaxial surface of the middle fertile portion a number of sori are present, each containing 3-6 microsporangia (equivalent to pollen sac) intermingled with small delicate hair surrounded called ramenta.
