How to control sandflies?

They are light or dark brown insects. They are smaller in size than mosquitoes.They transmit kala-afar, sand-fly fever and oriental sore. The life cycle of sandflies involves the same four stages as mosquitoes: egg, larva, pupa and adult. Only the female sand-fly bites and its bite is painful and irritating.

Control

Sand-fly can be controlled by

1. Spraying with DDT.

2. Sanitary measures like removal of vegetation around houses and filling up of cracks m walls and floors (where the sand flies live).
