Arguments for :

1. The impact of religion on the minds of the young is almost negligible because the spirit of secularism and scientific thinking have played a negative role in encouraging religious thinking. As a result of it, materialism has monopolized their thinking. They think that whenever may be the means their end should be material gain.. This has finished their moral virtues.

2. There is a sort of social disintegration and inter-dependence upon one another. Social life is considered to be just a matter of convenience and it has nothing to do with any type of affinity. Under such circumstances, a man cannot develop moral outlook ; the young, in particular, brimming with confidence can easily ignore moral outlook and noble virtues.

3. The young of today are ambitious type of people and in a changing society, ambition generally takes the form of arrogance. The young have lost touch with the older generation because they think that they can lead an independent life. They have become business-like in their attitude. Such a person cannot have moral virtues.

Arguments against :

1. Morality is inherent in the nature of man. It is only sometimes that it is supported by other virtues. The younger generation being generous, chivalrous and broad-minded is bound to be moral in outlook. When they find that morality has no value they ignore it but that does not imply that they are devoid of moral virtues.

2. It is wrong to think that the young people are materialistic in their attitude. They are more given to the enjoyment of life than to any other thing. This type of cavalier attitude can never finish the moral virtues in a young man.

3. Moral virtues can be imbibed or even cherished when a person finds the whole environment suitable to that type of attitude. It is but natural for men to ignore moral virtue when the environment are in conflict with it. Politics of today as well as the commerce of the present age, identifies success with fraud. These are the two fields of life which kill the moral virtues of a man. So particularly, in India, religion as well as the norms of social life still haunt every one it is wrong to say that the youth of today have no moral virtue.
