Hindus believe that man has four ambitions: roligion (dharma), money (arth), physical pleasure (karma) and salvation (moksha). These ambitions are called purusharthas. According to the Hindu scriptures, the physical as well as spiritual pleasures are the two important aspects of human life.

These pleasures are complementary and are essential prerequisites for human development in entirety. While dharma and moksha give spiritual pleasure, sex and money bring material or physical happiness.
