Scleroderma is a group of rare, progressive diseases that involve the hardening and tightening of the skin and connective tissues. The main abnormality is excess formation of fibrous tissue, particularly collagen that leads to rigidity of the affected part.

Localized scleroderma affects only the skin. Systemic scleroderma also harms internal organs, such as the heart, lungs, kidneys and digestive tract. Symptoms of scleroderma vary, depending on which organ systems are involved.

The most prevalent signs and symptoms of scleroderma include; an exaggerated response to cold temperatures or emotional distress, Gastroesophageal reflux, Skin changes etc.

Blood tests and biopsy are some tests for diagnosis of Scleroderma. There is no known cure and no drug will stop the overproduction of collagen. But medications can help control the symptoms of scleroderma or help prevent complications.
