The Pandyan tried to avert disaster by obtaining Ceylonese help but Parantaka defeated the combined forces of the Pandyas and the Ceylonese and assumed the appropriate title Maduraiyum Ilamum Kotida. The Pandya left for Ceylon, stayed there for some time and finally left for Kerala, the home of his mother.
