What is the structure and function of Peroxisome? Peroxisomes are small, membrane­bound cytoplasmic organelles found in both plant and animal cells. Beaufaytt and Berther (1963) called these micro-bodies as peroxisome.

Peroxisomes are single membrane microbodies. These are ovoid to spherical structures of 0.2µ-1.2µ in diameter. They contain of main enzymes- peroxidases, oxidases and catalases in the opaque core.
