What were the Consequences and Significance the Revolution of1905?

The Revolution of 1905 resulted in the creation of an elected consultative Parliament or Duma. The Duma was vested with the powers to make laws.

i. The Tsar yielded and accepted in his manifesto-the “October manifesto” to be a constitutional head. The manifesto granted freedom of speech, press and association.

‘Soviets’ like the Petrograd Soviet were set up everywhere. These ‘Soviets’ became instruments of political power and played a significant role in the upheaval of 1917.

However, the Tsar soon relapsed into his old ways and hope of gradual reforms was dumped.

The Revolution of 1905 was most significant in that it aroused the people and prepared them for the Revolution of 1917.

It drew soldiers and people of non-Russian nationalities into close contact with the Russian Revolutionaries.
