Several causes were responsible for the World War II.

First, the Treaty of Versailles is usually regarded as a primary cause of the World War II.

The humiliating Treaty of Versailles shattered the prestige and economy of Germany. No nation can tolerate such humiliation. Germany, as it were, had been preparing for another War immediately after signing the Treaty of Versailles.

Second, the League of Nations was also responsible for the War. For it failed to perform the primary task of maintaining the world peace.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

Third, the World War 1 failed to resolve the ideological conflict between democracy and dictatorship. Thus for the resolution of the difference another war was virtually inevitable.

Fourth, the misunderstanding between the democratic countries and the socialist Russia (USSR) gave Hitler an opportunity to fulfill his appetite for territory that eventually led to the World War II.
