In today’s hectic life of rivalries, conflicts and tensions, happiness has become a rarity. Happy moments keep eluding us. Throughout our life, we cling to a few, rare, precious moments of happiness, which become a permanent source of delight for us. It was the happiest day of my life when I bagged the first prize in an International Essay Writing Competition.

In the morning while I was leafing through the newspaper, my heart leapt at the sight of my name. I was ecstatic to read the news that my essay had been adjudged the best among all the entries and I was to receive a cash award of twenty thousand rupees. Soon everyone came to know about the exhilarating news. Neighbours, friends and relatives thronged our place. I was in the lime-light that day, the cynosure of all eyes.

What thrilled me most was a telegram from our President. He not only felicitated me on my creditable achievement but also exhorted me to gamer such laurels in future too. There was an atmosphere of jubilation in our family and the event was properly celebrated. After all I had won name, fame and acclaim and brought glory not only to my family but also to my country.
