In Srimad Bhagavad gita lord mentions that a bhakta who posses certain qualities, is dear to Him in the 12th chapter.
That person should be free from dvesa, friendly to all, compassionate, absence of l-ness, egolessness, equal response to happiness and sorrow, with the quality of forgiveness in his nature.
He is ever con’ his awareness is constant like of a yogi, he is self disciplined, determined, dedic his mind and intellect to the Lord who is dear to Him.
He is not agitated (udbeg), to be happy with others difficulty, not to be jealous with others happiness, free fear and anxiousness, non-expectation, expert in each field(capable), in differ overcome the soreness, not to perform action with expectation, not to be happy sorrow according to the result of the action.
