The child should balance and keep his body in an upright position before starting writing. The chair should be pulled near to the desks, the thighs kept straight and the lower limbs placed in a vertical position.

The legs should rest on the ground and the left hand should keep the papers in order. This helps in writing and the hand does not remain idle.

The forearm should be rested on the elbow in a manner so that palm may remain continuously visible.

The pen should be held by the thumb and the two fingers nearer it and the upper end of the pen should remain between the thumb and the finger adjoining it.
