The subject matter approach smacks of authorizations. The concept of desirable activities here, is confined to those only which are connected with the prescribed subject matter. In selecting such curriculum activities, there can be the following variants.
(i) The subject matter may be conceived in terms of the material used in investigation, or studying the problems or issues arising out of the subject matter.
(ii) The subject matter may be resolved into problems, issues or questions to be studies and may be conceived as such.
(iii) The subject matter resolved into issues, problems, questions etc. and the material used in tackling such issues or problems may be conceived in terms of the aim and purpose of all the activities performed.
