Cyathium:

1. Special type of inflorescence where floral axis is condensed and forms a cup-shaped structure.

2. The Involucre with nectary gland.

3. Flowers are unisexual and in cymose clusters at the base of cup-shaped axis.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

4. A single reduced female flower at the middle surrounded by a number of reduced male flowers.

Example: Poinsettia.

Hypanthodium:

1. Special type of inflorescence where floral axis is fleshy closed and becomes pear shaped receptacle.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

2. No such structure present.

3. Flowers are also unisexual but in cymose clusters on the inner wall of receptacle.

4. Female flowers are at the base and male flowers near the ostiole.
