What is the difference between Raceme and Spike?

Raceme:

1. It is type of racemose inflorescence.

2. It bears pedicellate flowers.

3. The flowers are mostly bisexual.

4. In some cases the main axis gives rise to lateral axes which bear flowers.

Spike:

1. It is also a type of racemose inflorescence.

2. It contains sessile flowers.

3. The flowers may be bisexual or unisexual. Female flowers are borne towards the base of the main axis and male flowers are borne towards apex.

4. No lateral axes are produced in this inflorescence.
