Polio (or poliomyelitis) is a disease that can cause lameness among children. It can cripple a child for life. According to WHO, one out of every 200 cases, polio virus passes to the spinal cord where it can destroy the nerve cells which activate the muscles.
Provision adequate good quality protein to about 80 per cent of the population which exists at sub-optimal levels of protein is a major task facing the country.
Under normal resting condition, the heart pumps blood into the aorta 72 times / min. Just as the blood is ejected into the aorta, the aorta swells (distention) a bit, and then contracts with the help of smooth muscles in its wall.
Heart is located in the center of the chest cavity slightly tilted towards the left. It is a hollow muscular organ made up of cardiac muscle fibres. It is the pumping organ of the circulatory system. It has four chambers, the right and left auricles (or atria) and the right and left ventricles.
