A martyr, Madan Lai Dhingra was born in Punjab. He went to London in 1906 to study engineering. It was in Britain that he came in contact with revolutionary nationalists such as Shyamji Krishna Verma and V. D. Savarkar.
Lal Bahadur Shastri became the second Prime Minister of India after Jawaharlal Nehru. A simple man with a middle class background he rose to the highest position on account of his character, integrity, sincerity, stead-fastness and loyalty.
