Commercial banks also provide financial assistance to the exporters at pre-shipment and post shipment stages.

Pre-shipment credit is given to enable exporters to purchase raw materials process them and create finished goods for the purpose of export.

Such credit is given on the basis of export orders and letters of credit with exporters. Post shipment credit is offered in the form of advances against bills of exchange and shipping documents drawn under letters of credit.
