What is the difference between Agent and Independent Contractor?

Agent

1. An agent acts under the supervision or control of his principal

2. An agent is bound by the instructions of his principal.

3. An agent can bind his principal by his act.

Independent Contractor

1. A contractor uses his own material, labour machines and equipments, etc.

2. An independent contractor is bound by the terms of the contract.

An independent contractor cannot bind his employer.
