Theories of internal migration discuss the different factors governing migratory movements. Such factors may be social, economic, political and even psychological. Therefore an internal migration’ studied not only by sociologists but, also by social psychologists, economists and political scientists.

Researches in the field of migration are generally empirical. They contain a factual description migratory movement, majority of the studies lack generalization. Demographers have devoted attention particularly, to methodological problems of the measurement of internal migration. Therefore the present knowledge of the phenomena of migration is quite elementary.

The study of motivations factors of migration is more complex than the study of factors of fertility and mortality. Therefore, present knowledge of the phenomena of migrations is quite elementary and hence, two distinctly different approaches are made towards this study.
