We have said it more than once that India is a country of villages. Its economy very much depends on the villages in the economic structure of the country, they occupy are important place in the political as well as administrative set up or the land.
The census of India considers those areas as rural where the population is below 5000 and the density of population less then 400 per square Kilometer. It further provides that in such areas at least 75% of the males of the working population are engaged in agricultural pursuits.
A village market is a temporary center for buying and seeing goods to fulfill the need of the locality. Permanent market is seen in town areas. But in village area, people do all kinds of shopping in weekly market. A village market may be either daily or weekly.
The name of my village is Balabhadrapur. It is situated on the bank of the Brahmani. My village is separated from other villages by the main river on one side and by its tributary on two other sides. The village is very old and has a number of special features.

The village stands far inland; and the streams that trot through the soft green valleys all about have as little knowledge of the sea, as the three-years' child of the storms and passions of man hood.
