A citizen is a member of the community or a state enjoying certain privileges and performing certain duties He looks after security and the well being of the community and the community looks after his safety and security.
There is the element of compulsion which enters into the relationship between the citizen and the state. In a modern state all members are its citizens. Gone are the days, when according to Aristotle, only those who had the power to take part in the deliberative or judicial administration were said to be the citizens of the state.
The idea of citizenship originated gradually as a result of the wide-spread rise of cities in the wake of the development of trade and maritime ports and centralized markets.

Every citizen should exercise this right very carefully and judiciously. We -should vote for and elect only those members who will govern our country fairly and honestly.
