A person may be deprived of his citizenship due to any of the following reasons:

(a) Continuous residence outside the country, resulting in termination of citi­zenship in India.

(b) Voluntary resignation and acquisition of another citizenship.

(c) Disloyalty and offences against the state, i.e., citizenship can be termi­nated on account of treason or disloyalty towards the country, desertion from the army or committing of a heinous crime.


(d) Service under an alien government.

(e) By marriage, i.e., when a woman marries an alien, she ipso facto becomes the citizen of the husbands’ country.
