S. T. D. Phone facility was started in India in 1960. This facility was first available between Kanpur and Lucknow.

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited was started in four Metropolitan cities of India in 1986 AD.

First Weekly Newspaper Bengal Gazzete was published in 1780 in Kolkata.
