Guru Nanak’s teachings about God are summed up in the ‘Mul Mantra’, the creedal statement of Sikhism, which is equally applicable to Islam and Hinduism. He describes this world as an ocean and liberation from it means to ferry the soul across to safety.

His teachings and percepts emphasize on Hindu-Muslim unity, equality of all human beings, crusade against Hindu caste system and social evils. He communicated his creed of love, service to humanity and adoration and oneness of God.

Wherever he went him laid stress on character building and told the people that though truth was greater than everything, higher still was true living. He preached the gpspel of love, joy and life to the people.

He established his spiritual sovereignty on sound foundations. The people began to call him Sacha Padshah, true king. He started the langar system free food to all irrespective of caste, religion or status.
