Mongol leader Taimur invaded India in 1398 AD, when last king 3f the Tughlaq dynasty Nasiruddin Mahmood Shah Tughlaq (Mahmood Tughlaq) ruled in Delhi. Taimur was a Turk and became the ruler of Samarkand in 1369 AD. He stayed in Delhi for fifteen days.

There was a general massacre and looting in Delhi for three days. He returned Samarkand with huge looty and appointed Khizr Khan as his viceroy in Multan. He dethroned the last ruler of Tughlaq dynasty Nasiruddin , Mahmood Shah Tughlaq and became the king of Delhi and thus founded the Sayyed dynasty in India. They ruled from 1412 to 1451
