Qutb Shahi kings particularly Ibrahim gave all encouragement to Telugu. His court was adorned with many poets such as Addan ki Gangadhara Kavi, Kundukuru Rudra and Ponnaganti Telegranarya. The poet laureate was Gangadhara who composed the poem Tapatisamavaranamu Upakhyanamu.

Ibrahim gave liberal grants to Telugu poets. Kandukuru Rudra was granted a village Chintralapallam. Pottamelta Samayajy was the poet-laureate in the time of Quli Qutb Shah. The other well known writers of Telugu in his reign were Ganesha Panditulu, Tamma Mantri, author of Vaijayanti Vilasamu.

A number of Telugu writers flourished during the time of his successors. Included among them were Lakshmi Narasimha who compiled Narasimha Vilasamu and Karpuram Krishnamacharya who translated Bhagvad Gita.

To Raja Surabhi Madhava Rayalu of Jataprolu goes the credit of composing a highly scholarly poem Chandrika Parinayamu. Abul Hasan Qutb Shah carried on the literary traditions of his forefathers and during his regin was produced the memorable work Sringaramanjai by Kalimullah Husaini, son of Shah Raju Ramdas, nephew of Madanna, is the celebrated author of Dasarathi Satakamu which glorifies Lord Ramma.

His other composition is Bhadrachala Ramadasa Charitra. Among other writers we may mention the names fo Bijjula Timma Reddy and Gangapavarapu Venkata kavi Chintalappalli.
