Hotel is a superior building meant for accommodating 15 or more strangers temporarily for few days. Strangers are charged according to the nature & period of accommodation. Hotel provides both lodging (temporary habitation) & boarding facilities.
Also hotel is an establishment of a permanent nature, of four or more bedrooms, offering beds and breakfast on a short-term contact and providing certain minimum standards.
The terms ‘hotel’ covers boarding-houses, inns, guesthouses, and bed-and-breakfast establishments, unclassified hotels in addition to 1,2,3,4 and 5 star hotels which may or may not be licensed to serve liquor.
The types of hotels vary by (i) location (coastal, countryside, small towns, large towns, cities), (ii) demand (business or holiday), (iii) size (4 bedrooms to several hundred bedrooms) (iv) standard (unclassified to 5 star), (v) ownership (independent, franchised or group operated, for example) and, (vi) atmosphere (busy/efficient or relaxed/ homely).
