An ideal friend possesses all the qualities of head and heart. It is easy to befriend others, but difficult to choose good friends. A friend in need is a friend indeed. It is rightly said that “God gives us relatives; thank God, we can choose, our friends.

Manoj is my best friend. He is from Karnataka, a young lad of 18 with a thin body. But he has scholarly look. He has a religious bent of mind. He has as grace which never fails to make an impression on others. His presence in company always makes it lively. Straight-forward and outspoken as he is, he never feels shy in the company of his seniors. He is always respectful to his elders and affectionate and kind to the youngsters.

Despite his religious bent of mind and high thinking, Manoj always keeps himself trim by wearing decent his clothes. He never comes to the school without a tie around his neck. He says that a physically smart person is always mentally smart.

His dress shows how much care he takes in creating a total effect of his personality. There is nothing in his appearance which may give even the slightest feeling of his indifference and carelessness. For example, you cannot see a button coming loose in his shirt. He has a disciplined way of leading his life. I am proud of my friend. He is intelligent in studies. All the students of his class look forward to him for guidance. Manoj is also in the good books of the teachers. He has taken up N.C.C. in the school. Last year he was declared as the best cadet in the zone. The education officer had praised him for his smartness and organizational ability.

Manoj speaks English fluently. He is also very good at writing. He has a good style of his own. Besides he is a good thinker. Even the teachers sometimes call for his opinion in school matters. He always calls a spade a spade. All the things have endeared him to all of us.
