Bhagwat Subramanian Chandrasekhar was a great spin bowler I polio, when he was a child, left Chandra’s right arm weak, but very flexit at the wrist.

He was a wrist spinner who bowled at a near medium playing in an age in which India appeared to not believe in openii bowlers, he was sometimes the fastest bowler in the side. His stock b; was probably the top-spinner or googol. He could turn the ball both and combined this with changes in pace and bounce.

Chandra’s Test debut was against England in 1963-64. He played h only O.D.I, against New Zealand at Auckland in 1975-76. In 1974-7! Tiger Patuadi chose to take a gamble against the West Indies at Kolkata; Chandra bowled Clive Lloyd and India went on to win the Test. H bowled India to win over England at the Oval in 1971 and Australia; Melbourne in 1977-78 as well as quite a few Tests at home. He was selected as Missenden’s ‘Cricketer of the Year’ in 1972.
