Aditya Thackeray is the son of Uddhav Thackeray, Executive President of Shiv Sena, and grandson of Bala Saheb Thackeray. He is currently head of Yuva Sena, a youth wing of Shiv Sena. He is the young blood and a new face of the Shive Sena. Shiv Sena is known for its rigid and straight forward attitude towards trivial issues. But Aditya is more flexible and liberal in thoughts. He is the perfect blend of modernism and strongly influenced and adhered to the teachings of his grandfather.
He made his debut with a bang, winning the Senate Elections for the University of Mumbai, capturing a record 8 out of 10 seats contested. Ever since the Senate won, the Yuva Sena has solved a lot of student issues and problems in the University, ranging from small exam problems to bigger and serious issues.
Aditya completed his bachelor’s in arts, from St. Xavier’s college, Mumbai. He did his junior college from Dhirubhai Ambani International School, studying the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. After that he graduated from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, with History as his majors. He is currently studying Law at KC Law College. Aditya has been active in various extracurricular activities like D.E.A.S, Task Force, Perfect, and sports activities like cricket.
Aditya Thackrey is a creative person who composes his poems in solitude and does not hesitate to use his privet bathroom for the creative buds to nurture. Though, he claims that he can’t remember his own written poems and thence saves them in his cell phone. This makes his cell phone one of the basic amenities he can’t live without. The poet-turned-photographer-turned-youth leader of the Shiv Sena appreciates similarity between politics and art. He consider politics as a way to serve people and prefer to call it as ‘social work’.

His first book of poems, ‘My Thoughts in White and Black’, was published in 2007. Thereafter, he turned lyricist and released a private album ‘Ummed’, for which he wrote all the eight songs. Singers like Suresh Wadkar, Shankar Mahadevan, Kailash Kher and Sunidhi Chauhan lend their voice for the album. The album was inaugurated by the hands of living legend Mr. Amitabh Bachchan who is also a good friend of the family.
The young leader and his Sena also registered the accolade for forcing Mumbai University to withdraw Canada-based Rohinton Mistry’s book ‘Such a Long Journey’ from its Syllabus. Aditya openly criticized the book and called it extremely racist in its approach. His group comprises of old friends and always welcomes the new entrants. Since he finds less youth participation in politics, he offers a simple solution. According to him, he dedicates 2 hours daily to party work and considers if every youth spend at least 1 hour weekly for a social cause, a huge difference can be made. He advocate for a base for youths to voice their opinion.
He also differs from his family’s views about Nehru-Gandhi family. He appreciates the entry of Rahul Gandhi in the politics. Aditya has been proposed as the star face that will campaign for the party in the coming elections. He is energetic and connects really well with younger generation. He is the new face of Thackrey family and has a long way to go and prove his mettle.
