The National Flag of India was adopted by the constituent Assembly of India on July 22, 1947 and presented to the nation at the midnight session of the Assembly on Aug 14, 1947 behalf of the woman of India. The Flag was first unfurled Parliament House.

The tricolor flag was first born in the All India Cons Committee meeting at Bezwada (A. P.) in 1912.

The ratio of the width of the flag to its length is 2 : 3.

The flag is divided into three equal bands of different colours. The top band is of deep saffron colour, white in the middle and dark green at the bottom.

In the centre of the white band is a wheel which is of navy blue colour. The wheel is taken from the abacus of the Sarnath Lion capital. The wheel has 24 spokes.

The green colour signifies faith and chivalry.

The saffron colour signifies courage and sacrifice.
