Planning is necessary to set the objectives of organisation. It is also a process of preparing for change and coping with uncertainty by formulating future course of action.

The purpose of planning is to reduce the risk of uncertainties, avoid wastages and to initiate a coordinated effort within the organisation for the purpose of organisational success.
