The backward castes movement in South India was an anti-brahmin movement. E.V. Ramaswa Naicker was the leader of the anti-brahmin movement. The Dravida Kazhagam in Tamil means the organisation of the Dravidians the DMK was formed by C.N. Annadurai in 1949. In 1970 M.G Ramachandran founded the All-India DMK. Both these parties had taken an anti-brahmin stance in politics. The SNDP movement in Kerala was more of a reformist movement, as it emphasized the upliftment of the backward communities, particularly the Ezhavas.
