Id-e-Miladdun-nabi is popularly known as Barah Wafat. It is celebrated on the twelfth day of the third month of Islamic calendar, Rabi-ul-Awwal. It is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad. On this day special prayers are held in mosques. Islamic scholars deliver sermons largely focussing on the life, teaching and noble deeds of the Prophet. Elegies or marsiyas are sung in memory of the last days of the Prophet. In some parts is observed and alms-giving is a common practice in this festival.
