Shivaji was born in Shivner on the April 1627. His father’s name was Shahji and his mother’s name wasjijabai. His father was a nobleman in the court of Bijapur and his mother was a religious Hindu.

One night, Shahji had a dream in which he was offered a mango and asked to share it with his wife in order to get a son.

This son was to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Shortly after that, a son was born, and so the happy parents named him ‘Shivaji’ after Lord Shiva. His mother hired a Brahmin teacher; Dada Kondevji, for him.

He was even taught martial arts. By the age of 13, he had just one dream to build a kingdom of his own. Shivaji was the founder of the Maratha Empire in India. I He founded the Hindu kingdom in the Deccan and fought against the powerful Mughals. Shivaji ruled his kingdom in an organised way and died on 3rd April 1680.
