Animal testing has been going on since the late nineteenth century. Over the years, billions of animals have been killed for experiments. The amount of animals sacrificed each year is horrible especially when a lot of the test turn out to be inaccurate. For many centuries scientists and testers in research have used animals of all kinds. Most of the animals are small ones like rodents – rats, mice, hamsters and gerbils. Some dogs, cats and a variety of goats, monkeys and rabbits have also been used. Of animals currently being used today, about 80% of these are rats and mice, and less than 3% are cats and dogs while non- human primates account for 2%. The animal rights issue is an emotional one. We now must stop this cruelty.
