The Pakistan Army is not just an armed force but it is a way of living for many individuals who are patriotic and are ready to die for the love of their country. People who are part of the Pakistan Army are physically and mentally strong; they have the strength to deal with the most difficult situations at hand and also the intellect to act quickly when a complex situation arises. 1. Firstly people who aim to be part of the army need to realize what is at stake. The patriotism which runs in the blood of these individuals makes them blind towards every other thing or being in the world. It is necessary that these individuals think rationally before deciding to join the army. It is extremely vital that they involve their family members while taking a decision to join the army. It might be possible that they lose their lives and their families might have to suffer after they are gone.

2. Once the person has made up his mind to join the army he needs to conduct a proper research through which he could learn the entire procedure of joining the army.

3. The first option available for individuals is to apply through the PMA long course. The age limit varies for civilians and soldiers to apply for this course. People who have done their B.A, B.S or BBA can apply for the PMA course.

4. In order to selected for the course the individual has to pass written examinations, physical and medical tests and also clear interviews.

5. Once the individual is selected he has to complete his training and education at the Pakistan military academy in Kakol. After successfully completing this course the individual is commissioned as sub lieutenant.

6. Other options available for individuals include going to the army medical schools. They have to complete their M.B.B.S from this school after which they have to spend 5 years in the army training camp to become part of the army.

7. The third and the final field in the army a person could choose is taking the technical cadet course. People who have done their FSc pre engineering can get admission in the technical cadet course. Tests pertaining to technical knowledge called the ISSB tests are conducted and the candidates who successfully pass the test and the medical examination are sent to pursue technical studies in the military college of engineering.

8. With the variety of options available for individuals within the army allows them to pursue their own personal interests.

Course Structure:

The three different types of courses mentioned earlier including the PMA long course, army medical course and technical cadet course include different subject areas. The PMA long course prepares individuals by teaching them with the most basic knowledge and basic subjects. The medical course includes the contents of a full medical course taught in any other medical university, this is conducted alongside physical training. The technical cadet course basically equips applicants with the technical knowledge by teaching them various sciences.

Job Opportunities:

There are numerous job opportunities available for people in the army as there are different posts which become vacant as people move up the hierarchy. But one needs to go through an entire procedure and only after years of experience can he reach the top posts such as the chief of army staff.

Any person who is medically fit, passes the physical tests and has done his F.Sc is eligible to join the Pakistan Army.
