The ‘personality’ is a term that has many general meanings. Sometimes, the word refer to the ability to get along well socially. It refers to the most striking impression that an individual makes on other people. To a psychologist, personality is an area of study that deals with complete human behaviour, including emotions, actions and cognitive processes. Psychologists study the patterns of behaviour that make individuals different and distinct from one another.

As the students of salesmanship our focus is one ‘Sales personality’ and not on ‘general or over all personality. Personality is the essence of all those humans and human relation involved in salesmanship. Therefore, ‘sales personality’ is the sum total of every aspect of ; salesman that is essential to influence the prospects favorably. ‘Sales personality’ is something which is gifted, produced and can be improved up on by developing certain qualities of sue! personality traits or qualities. Mr. J.C. coffin, that is why, says personality is the biggest miracle, and the biggest facts in the universe”.

He refers to miracles as the magnetism one has which attracts others towards him. It is the sum total of all those physical, psychological traits which create an unique impression on others. Each professional has a personality of his own depending upon his line. Salesman as a professional has his own personality.
