He was succeeded by Parantaka Viranarayana who was the second son of Srimara Srivallabha. He reigned from AD 880 to 900. It was in his reign period that the Dalavaipuram plates were issued.

These along with the Sinnamanur plates indicate his achievements. His inscriptions mention a number of titles which under prevailing conditions seem vainglorious and inappropriate.

This Pandyan, however, was successful in a number of battles in the southern regions and in the Kongu country. He endowed a number of Brahmin villages, and ‘numberless temples and water tanks’. That one of his wives was a Chera princess who gave her name to the village Sheramadevi (in the Tirunelveli district) shows that in spite of his hospitality to the Cheras he was generally on friendly terms with them. He was succeeded by his son Maravarman Rajasimha HI.
