Short note on Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV)

Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) is the simplest virus. It has a hollow rod-like structure with a helically coiled single stranded RNA surrounded by the protein coat (capsid). Capsid contains 2,130 capsomeres arranged helically around the central axis. It causes mosaic disease (mosaic symptoms on leaves) in tobacco and is responsible for heavy damage to the crop.
