On Jamshid’s death, Subhan-Quli (A.D. 1550) succeeded to the throne. His accession was, however, disputed by Daulat-Quli and Ibrahim, his two uncles. In the struggle between Subhan-Quli’s forces and Daulat-Quli’s forces, the former emerged victorious.

Jagadeva Rao, the naikwari and supporter of Dulat-Quli, was captured and imprisoned in Balahisar on the top of Golkonda fort. Ibrahim, who was then at Vijayanagar, took leave of Ramaraja and proceeded to Golkonda.

The vakil and Peshwa of the kingdom, Saif Khan Ali-ul-Mulk, went forward to meet him. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Jagadeva Rao escaped from prison and after a bloody battle in the capital in which the thanedar was killed, he proclaimed Ibrahim king of the Qutb Shahi kingdom.
