Between 1930 and 1932 three Round Table Conferences were in London. On the basis of the discussions in the conferences British Parliament passed the Government of India Act 1935.

Act of 1935 provided for the establishment of? Federal structure of Government in India.

The federal government was to be managed by the Governor-General with the assistance of a Council of Ministers.

The Act also provided for provincial autonomy. The Provincial Governor was also to be assisted by a Council of Ministers appointed by him. There were other provisions also in the Act.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

The Act of 1935, however, failed to satisfy the nationalist aspirations of the Indian people.
