Write a letter to (The Manager, Delhi Transport Corporation), Delhi, describing about the problem of overcrowding in buses.

Sir,

I wish to draw your kind attention towards the problems of overcrowding in the D.T.C. buses. Almost all the buses plying on different routes are packed to their capacity, particularly during the peak hours. This overcrowding provides golden opportunity to anti-social elements. They find it convenient to carry all sorts of malpractices in overcrowded buses. The pick-pockets are active, with their jobs. They have a roaring business in a crowded bus. Overcrowded buses are good for the eve teasers to indulge in their activities. It becomes a problem for the ladies to commute in such buses. The journeys of the old people are uncomfortable in such buses.

In addition, overcrowded buses are often late. Sometimes people who have to get down at their destination find it difficult to come out of the overcrowded buses and are dropped at some other stop. A large number of people have to hang at the gate. They put their life at risk. Even ladies have to commute in such situation. They have the pressure to reach their workplace in time.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

The solution to this problem lies in adding to the number of buses. The buses of long routes must be made to ply before and after the office hours. The drivers should be directed to bring the buses in time and stop them only at bus stands. If they do not comply with the direction, they should be strictly dealt with.

I am sure you will take necessary action to relieve the people from the problem of overcrowding.

Thanking you,
