ADVERTISEMENTS:

I agree with the views expressed by Mr. S. S. Pandit (4th March) on the reckless driving of cars and Lorries in the city. Seeing the break-neck speed at which they race along the streets, one gets the impression that the drivers must be drunk. Many of them do not slow down the speed even while negotiating sudden turns on the road. It is not surprising that road accidents are on the increase. The other day I saw a lorry knock down an old woman who was crossing a road. What was more shocking to me was that the lorry did not stop, but sped on, as though nothing had happened.

The drivers of cars and Lorries must be compelled to observe the speed- limit laid down for vehicles plying in a city. The culprits must be given deterrent punishment.

Yours truly,

X.Y.Z.
