Dear Sir,

I read with a heavy heart an article in yesterday’s newspaper regarding the granting of licenses to five industrial houses to manufacture low-prices two wheelers. I am writing this letter to express my horror at such a move. The Capital has already earned its name as the most polluted city of the world. During mornings and evenings, the smoke emitted by the vehicles on the road creates a sheet of toxic gas, which hangs in the atmosphere for a long time. The low-priced two wheelers shall add more smoke to the environment. The day is not far off when we will be required to wear oxygen masks to avoid inhaling the poisonous gas. Numberless persons have shown symptoms of bronchitis, lung infection, blurred eyes, etc. due to this unhealthy environment. The future can be visualized by anyone. The capital will soon be an unsuitable place to live in.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

All the Environmentalists have been inviting the attention of the government to the deteriorating health conditions by the pollution from time to time but to no avail. The government must do something to ensure pollution-free air to the citizens. If necessary steps are not taken, the Capital will soon be another hell on earth.

I, therefore, appeal to the government to reconsider its decision to grant licenses to manufacture two-wheelers or at least postpone it for some years till something is done to keep the environment of the capital clean. It is a great irony that we clamor for clean air, yet we pollute it indirectly.

Yours faithfully,
