What was the importance of the battle of Plassey?

In the battle of Plassey held in 1757 the Bengal Nawab’s army was completely defeated by a handful of English soldiers.

But the battle was of utmost importance in the history of Bengal as well as of India.

(1) The battle proved beyond doubt the superiority of the English soldiers.

(2) The battle of Plassey proved success of the machinations of Robert Clive.

(3) After P’assey the Bengal Nawab became a puppet in the hands of the English.

(4) The battle of Plassey let loose the plunder of India’s wealth.

(5) Sir Jadunath Sarkar has narrated the importance of the battle of Plassey saying that it brought an end to the medieval period and inaugurated modern period in Indian history.
