Buddhism has to its credit the creation of first human statuettes which were of Lord Buddha. The Ajanta murals owe their debt to Buddhist monks.
The panels at Gaya in Bihar and at Sanchi and Bharut in Madhya Pradesh are outstanding examples of relief sculpture. Likewise, the Buddhists were the pioneers of temple architecture.
The cave architecture came into existence and all of them were mainly contribution of the Buddhists like Barabar, Karle, Kanheri and Bagh.
