Short Notes on Cycle of Seasonal Movement

(i) The nomadic tribes need to follow a cycle of seasonal movement because when climate is not suitable or pastures not available or unsuitable, cattle are likely to starve unless they can be moved to areas where climate is suitable and forage available. Thus nomadism helps them to survive bad times and avoid crises.

(ii) Movement enables them to make most effective use of available pastures in different places.

(iii) When pasture was exhausted in one place the continuous movement allowed pastures to recover, prevented overuse and enabled later use.
